3 days Bwindi Gorillas and Lake Bunyonyi Safari is a short safari for those travelers who have a short vacation but want to track gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in their preferred gorilla sector. One can decide to track in Rushaga gorilla sector, Buhoma gorilla sector, Ruhija gorilla sector or Nkuringo gorilla sector. The safari will expose you to Lake Bunyonyi which is the deepest lake in Uganda and the second deepest in Africa after and if you enjoy swimming, Lake Bunyonyi is here for you which is bilharzia free and you can swim till the late. The lake has over 29 Islands which you can visit as you enjoy canoeing, you can also engage in zip lining, Batwa community walk among others.
Day 1: Pick-up and transfer to Bwindi
Arise in the morning, enjoy your delicious breakfast at your hotel, and meet your driver guide who will brief you about the safari and then set off for the journey to the southwestern. The distance will take you about 8-9 hours but with stopovers for example at the Equator where you will have the Equator experience, proceed to Mbarara where you will enjoy your lunch and then embark on your journey to Bwindi arriving in the evening, connect to the lodge accommodation, check-in, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Arise in the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking habits, you will be assigned a gorilla family to track, and head to the thick forests with a ranger guide who will help you locate the gorillas, spend an hour in their presence, take pictures and videos and then return to the lodge to check-out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi which is about 2hours drive from Bwindi. Arrive in the evening, connect to the lodge, to check-in, have a hot lunch and in the evening engage in the activities either in canoeing where you will visit different islands, engage in zip lining, swimming among others, you will retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Check-out and departure
On this day, you will wake up at your time of convenience, enjoy breakfast, check-out and transfer back to Kampala. You will enjoy your lunch in Mbarara and embark on your journey, your driver guide will either drop you at the hotel or at the Airport depending on your time of departure.
