Overview
The four days in Kibale Forest National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari will give you an opportunity to explore two national parks that are exquisite in what they have to offer which is tree-climbing lions at Queen Elizabeth and Kibale offering the experience of Chimpanzee trekking. Expect to see animals like the famous tree-climbing lions, elephants, buffaloes, crocodiles, hippos, antelopes, hyenas; primates like Chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, L’hoest monkeys, grey checked mangabeys and olive baboons; about 400 bird species like African skimmers, fish eagles, yellow-billed stork, African finfoot, bee-eaters, white-tailed lark and shoebill stork. The two parks have enough to offer for a memorable experience with beautiful scenic views that will occupy you all the way through the country side. The trip starts from Kampala to Kibale forest via Mubende to Queen Elizabeth via Kasese and back to Kampala.
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
Upon arrival, you will be met by a driver guide from Glory Summit Tours who will also brief you on how your trip will move after which you will set off for Kibale Forest National Park and the journey will take about 5-6 hours. You will enjoy the amazing views of the country side with one stop over for lunch then continue to the park and check in to your lodging, rest and freshen up and get ready for the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a hike. While at the sanctuary you will see birds like the great blue turaco, crowned eagles, pigeons, black bee-eaters; primates like olive baboons, vervet monkeys, Ugandan mangabeys and rarely chimpanzees while on the hike and this will take about 3hours. You will then return to the lodge in the late evening for dinner after which you will take leave and rest for the night.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
An early breakfast is scheduled after which you will head to the Kanyachu visitors center at 7:30am for briefing before your trek, during this briefing the rules will be given on how to handle the trek in general then a park guide will be allocated to you. The trek goes on for about 30minutes-4hours. Once the chimps are found, you will be given an hour with them in their habitat. Other primates like baboons and monkeys plus different bird species will be seen during the trek. After the trek you will head back to the lodge, freshen up after which you will have lunch before you exit the park for Queen Elizabeth National Park. This will be about 2hours of a journey, and you will get to Queen in the evening, check in and have dinner. You will retire for the night to enable you enjoy the next day.
Day 3: Morning game drive and boat cruise at Kazinga Channel
You will have breakfast and then head out for the morning drive through Queen Elizabeth with a guide and expect to see 4 of the big five: elephants, buffaloes, lions, bush backs, kobs, leopards, hyenas, antelopes, giant forest hogs giraffes, colobus monkeys as well as several bird species, then return to your lodging to relax as you wait for lunch. After lunch you will head to Kazinga Channel and launch, the cruise will tale 2-3hours with a guide to avail answers for any questions you might have during the boat cruise and during the cruise you will see water animals like the hippopotamus, buffaloes, elephants, water bucks, crocodiles and bird species including the African skimmer. You will head back to the hotel in time for dinner and after dinner you can enjoy the evening by the fire as you relive the experiences of the days and retire at will.
Day 4: Checkout and Departure for Kampala
With breakfast done, you will check out of the hotel and exit the park for Kampala. On your way to Kampala you will enjoy the beautiful scenic views of the countryside and also have a chance to take some pictures while at it. A stopover in Mbarara for lunch and another at the Equator for more pictures and exploring the craft world will be done. Then continue to Kampala at an agreed point which will mark the end of your 4 days trip.
