5 days in Murchison and Kibale
Overview

A combination of the Oldest Park in Uganda and the go to primate destination in Africa, 5 days in Murchison and Kibale will certainly give you the best of both worlds in regards to animals and primates with the addition of birds, butterflies, the world’s strongest falls and vegetation which provides good scenery. Expect to see Lions, Leopards, Elephants, Buffaloes, Rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffes, Ugandan kobs, warthogs, waterbucks, bushbucks; primates like chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, olive baboons; birds like goliath herons, pelicans, bee-eaters, king fishers, hornbills, cormorants and the rare shoebill stork. The trip will start from Kampala through Luweero to Murchison to Kibale and back to Kampala.

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

You will be met by our driver guide from Glory Summit Tours who will then brief you on how the trip will move for the scheduled 5days. You will then set off for Murchison National Park which will take about 6-7hours via Luweero and connect to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola to track black and white Rhinos with a guide which takes about 2-3hours depending on their location and once done you will have lunch and exit the sanctuary and continue to Murchison Falls National Park where you spend the night. You will check into your lodge in time for dinner after which you will rest and reset for the next day.

Day 2: Morning game drive and Boat cruise

An early breakfast will be enjoyed, then you will be driven to the park by your driver guide and the ranger to enjoy a game drive where you expect to see animals like leopards, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, kobs, bushbucks, oribis, grey duikers and to mention but a few and pictures will be taken for memories. After the game drive you will head back to your hotel for lunch and relaxation before the boat cruise. With lunch out of the way, you will head to out onto the Nile to enjoy the afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls which takes about 2-3hours to see water animals like crocodiles, waterbucks, hippos, warthogs, and bird species like the rare shoebill stork, hornbills, fly catchers, herons and king fishers with a guide to answer any questions you might have. After the cruise, you will hike up to the falls known as the Devil’s Cauldron, where you will see the waters of the Nile trying to fit into a small gorge and the trademark rainbow. You will then head back to the lodge, have dinner and retire for the night.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

After breakfast, you will check out of your lodging and exit Murchison Falls National Park and head to Kibale Forest National Park and the drive will take 4-5hours as you enjoy the scenic views. On arrival to Kibale Forest National Park, you will check in to your lodge and rest before you can have dinner. Once dinner is done you will rest for the night in preparation for the next day.

Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi cultural walk

An early breakfast is scheduled after which you will head to the Kanyachu visitors center at 7:30am for briefing before your trek, during this briefing the rules will be given on how to handle the trek in general then a park guide will be allocated to you. The trek goes on for about 30minutes-4hours. Once the chimps are found, you will be given an hour with them in their habitat. Other primates like baboons and monkeys plus different bird species will be seen during the trek. Lunch will be served after the trek at the lodge, thereafter you will get ready for the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a walk, accompanied by a local guide you will learn more about the different cultures, local medicines and traditional life. Story telling will be done by the community people, plus the history and issues being faced by the developing community will also be looked at. While at the sanctuary you will see birds and primates even chimpanzees which might be rare while on the hike and this will take about 3hours. You will then return to the hotel in time for dinner after which you will take leave and rest for the night at will.

Day 5: Checkout and departure to Kampala

You will wake up, pack and check out of your lodging, have a breakfast then depart for Kampala which is about 5-6hours. With the Rwenzori Mountains for a view, you will head to Kampala through Mbarara. You will have lunch in Mbarara and another stopover at the equator for picture moments, exploring the craft world then continue to Kampala and will be dropped off at the agreed point which will mark the end of the 5 days trip to the fascinating parks.
