The 5 Days Rwanda wildlife and Bwindi gorillas, is a safari that will get you submerged into a combined Uganda and Rwanda safari that exposes you to the beauty of African wildlife up-close. This ultimate safari will take you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Uganda that harbors half of the world’s remaining gorilla population, Akagera National Park in Rwanda that is home to dazzling array of wildlife such as the big five and Nyungwe forest National Park in Rwanda that harbors the chimpanzees and twelve other primate species. Appreciate this region’s nature as you take on a game drive, Lake Ihema cruise, gorilla and chimpanzee treks while you have an aerial view of Nyungwe and its surroundings on a suspended 70m high bridge.

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Meet our driver guide upon your arrival at the airport who will then take you through a briefing highlighting your safari expectations, activities to engage in and the safari code of behavior. You will then set off for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park traveling via Mbarara with a stop-over at the equator line in Kayabwe to have your gallery updated and also buy some souvenirs from the craft shops around. With your lunch en-route in Mbarara town, you will proceed through rolling hills terraced with tea plantations arriving in the late afternoon to check-in at a lodge for relaxation, have diner and an a night stay as you wait to encounter our closest cousins in the next morning.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking depart to Akagera National Park

Have an early breakfast and proceed to the park headquarters with packed lunch for a briefing by the about the dos and don’ts while in the park. The park rangers will lead you into Bwindi’s forests for a memorable and amazing experience as you watch the mountain gorillas go by their day-today activities. Trekking the gorillas can last for an hour to 6hours depending on their movement after which you will spend an hour amidst them. Get back to the lodge to have some snacking, checking-out and drive to Akagera National Park. Travelling to Rwanda, you will have a lot to experience starting from her valleys, hill tops viewed at a distance, lush carpet of green in a myriad of shades covering the undulating peaks is all evidence that Rwanda is surely “The land of a thousand hills”. Arrival will be in the evening to check-in at a lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 3: Morning game drive and  Lake Ihema launch cruise

This beautiful day starts with breakfast and immediately proceed to have the most rewarding activity in the Park as you encounter a variety of animals and bird species. Get excited to meet the big five of the jungle with other animals such as giraffes, zebras, topis, impalas, bushbucks, warthogs to mention but a few. Return to have lunch at the lodge before proceeding for a cruise on Lake Ihema. Taking a cruise on Lake Ihema waters, you will sail through classes of hippopotamuses, crocodiles as you spot a variety of animals quench their thirst along the lake shores. Visitors can also spot bird species roaming the waters such as kingfishers, jacanas, herons, papyrus gonolek, sandpipers, shoebill stork and many more due to the lake’s seasonal and perennial swamps that harbor a variety of bid types. Return to the lodge to have dinner and an overnight.

Day 4: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park – Canopy walk

Greet your intestines with scrumptious breakfast, check-out of Akagera and embark on your journey to Nyungwe forest National Park. This is a six and a half hours engrossing drive arriving in the early afternoon to check-in at a reserved lodge and have lunch. After lunch, proceed for a canopy walk where you will walk 60m above the forest floor, feel fresher air and have breathtaking views of the surrounding areas such as Lake Kivu and volcanoes in a distance. You will then get back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight.

Day 5: Chimpanzee trek – transfer to Kigali and departure

Wake-up so early to grab a cup of coffee and be driven to Uwinka park headquarters for a briefing about the chimpanzee trekking etiquettes. You will then be led by the park rangers into the rainforests to embark on the search of these endangered primates while you encounter other primates such as blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, velvet monkeys, olive baboons and many more which may last for 2 to 6hours. Having chased after them by their hoots, you will enjoy an hour observing them closely as you appreciate their behaviors being close to those of humans. Get back to the lodge for an early lunch, check-out to embark on your journey to Kigali arriving in the late afternoon to be dropped off at the airport to catch your outbound flight.
