Day 1: Arrival and Kigali city tour
On this beautiful day, a driver representative from Glory Summit Tours will be waiting to receive you at Kigali International Airport, he will great you, take you through the itinerary and then unfold for you how you will start your safari. The first destination will be Kigali Genocide memorial center where you will learn the cause and the damage of Rwandan genocide of 1994, then later proceed to local markets and artisans to enjoy the local innovation of the Rwandan culture. After enjoying the cleanest city in East Africa you will retire to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Akagera National Park
On your second day, you will arise in the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and check-out of the hotel and head to Akagera National Park a home to Africa’s big 5. You will arrive in the afternoon, check-in the room, enjoy a hot lunch and do an evening game drive to spot some wildlife especially the nocturnal animals since they be active as the day goes down. Checking your bucket-list, animals like buffaloes, elephants, black and white rhinos, lions, giraffes, zebras, will be seen roaming around. You will retire to the lodge in the late evening as you prepare for the next day exploration.
Day 3: Game drive and transfer to Virunga National Park
Arise very early in the morning, get your breakfast packed and your luggage as well, check-out of the lodge and head to the jungle to animals when they are still very active. You will be welcomed by herds of buffaloes, elephants, lion prides, leopards, hyenas, birds will be chirping in the tree branches. You will visit different kopjes as directed by the ranger guide and our experienced driver guide. You will enjoy a picnic breakfast, then do a game drive following the track that will take you out of the park and head to Congo’s Virunga National Park which is a sister to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda. These parks share the origins which are volcanic mountains that cat across Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo through southwestern Uganda and in the northern Rwanda. They all harbor mountain gorillas but they give different experience. Lunch will be served on the way, proceed to Congo, arriving in the late evening connect to your lodge accommodation, have dinner and enjoy your peaceful night.
Day 4: gorilla trekking and relaxation
This is another eventful day, where you will wake-up in the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and head to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking etiquettes in Virunga National Park. You will be assigned a gorilla family to track, head to the jungle with the ranger guide who will help you to locate the gentle giants of Virunga. You will spend an hour with them, as you enjoy the sights and sounds from the thick forests. You will return to the lodge in the afternoon, enjoy a scrumptious lunch and relax.
Day 5: Check-out and departure
This is your last leg of the trip, bless it wish misty sights of Virunga, enjoy breakfast, check-out of the lodge and head back to Kigali.
