Overview

5 days Uganda gorillas and chimpanzee tracking is one of the best safari that will expose you to Uganda’s most visited national parks. You will visit Kibale Forest National Park which is a primate capital and is declared to be the best place to track chimpanzees because of hosting almost half of the world’s remaining chimpanzee population. You will do gorilla tracking or gorilla habituation in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, this safari will also take you to Batwa community where you will interact with the shortest people in the world who have been in the forests since time immemorial. The trip begins in Entebbe and ends in Entebbe.

Day 1: Pick-up and transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

On this beautiful day, you will be picked by our driver guide who will pick you from the Airport or Hotel, brief you about the safari and then head to Kibale Forest National Park, you will have a stopover in Fort-Portal town for lunch and then embark on the journey, arriving in the evening hours, check-in to the lodge accommodation, have dinner, relax and enjoy an overnight while listening the sweet melodies from the birds.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and Bigodi wetland walk

Wake up in the morning for scrumptious breakfast, head to Kanyanchu headquarter for briefing and allocation of a chimpanzee family to track. Tracking these primates will take you about 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on how far they moved and you are always provided an hour to spend with chimpanzees, taking pictures and videos as you observe the way they play and how they behave. You will spot other animals for example L’Hoest monkeys, black and white colobus, grey checked mangabey, red colobus monkeys, birds among other species. You will later return to the lodge for lunch and then in the evening you will go to Bigodi wetland sanctuary a birder’s paradise where you will spot blue turacos, shoebill storks, papyrus Gonolek, monkeys, forest elephants, to mention but a few. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Arise in the morning for a scrumptious breakfast, check-out and head to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park via Ishasha sector where you will be spotting tree climbing lions, buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, warthogs among other species will be on your checklist. You will enjoy lunch en-route then embark on your journey to Bwindi, arriving in the evening hours, connect to your lodge accommodation, check-in, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour

This is another eventful day for you to meet the gentle giant gorillas in their natural habitat. After breakfast, you will be transferred to the park head quarter where you will be provided the tip of gorilla trekking, you will be allocated the gorilla family to track and then head to the jungle with the ranger guide. Spend an hour with the gorillas, as you record every moment, take pictures, and then return to the park headquarter where you will be granted a tracking certificate and then proceed to the lodge. After enjoying some evening tea or a meal, you will visit Batwa community where you will be entertained by their songs, way of life through stories, beliefs then retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Check-out and departure

Arise in the morning on the last leg of your trip, enjoy a delicious breakfast and hit the road to Kampala with lunch en-route in Mbarara. You will have a stopover at the Equator for the Equator experience where you have to take pictures while standing in both hemispheres of the world. There are also some craft shops in case you need to buy some, and then embark on the journey where the driver guide will drop you at the Airport marking the end of your trip.
