6 days Uganda Gorillas and OI Pajeta safari will expose you to two of East Africa’s most thrilling wildlife experiences: tracking mountain gorillas in Uganda and exploring the diverse wildlife of Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. Combing Uganda and Kenya which gives you an opportunity to view the big five, the endangered Mountain Gorillas, the largest rhino sanctuary in East Africa and more is certainly one you don’t want to miss out on. Expect to see animals like lions, leopards, buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, giant forest hogs, kobs, oribis, giraffes, zebras, hippos, wildebeests, wild dogs, hyenas, waterbucks and more; birds like black-winged lapwig, hildebrandt’s starling, ostrich, rosy-throated longclaw, secretary bird, kori bustards, flycatchers, sparrows, Rwenzori turaco, black bee-eater, regal sunbird, African green pigeon, shelley’s crimsonwing, montane oriole, Rwenzori batis, apalis and more; primates like mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, pottos, galagos and an overall beautiful experience in both countries. The trip will start in Kampala to Bwindi and end in Kenya.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
You will meet at an agreed point with our representative from Glory Summit Hotel Tours and once all of you are settled in you will be briefed about the journey and what is expected after which you will set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and the journey will be about 8-9hours. You will have two stopovers, with the first one at the Equator mark for picture moments, and the second one will be in Mbarara for lunch. After lunch, you will then continue to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and will reach in the evening. In time for dinner and then you will check into your lodging for the night and retire for the day so you can rest enough in preparation for the next day.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour
You will wake up early and have breakfast and then head to the briefing spot by 7:30am with a packed snack and water, you will be given the guidelines and safety precautions to be followed by a guide to ensure a smooth trek before you head into the forest to experience it. Depending on the targeted Gorilla families given to you for the trek, the trekking will take between 30minutes-6hours, it’s in this time that we shall get to see the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, how they live, care for each other, care for their young, how and when they eat will be observed by you with a guide and armed ranger on route with you. During the trek you will also see other primates like the vervet monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, olive baboons, chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, pottos and galagos; animals African elephants, giant forest hogs, bush pigs and different bird species. After you will go back to the lodging, freshen up and have lunch after which you will visit the Batwa people for a community tour. With the help of a local guide, you will be involved in different community activities like music, dance and drama, crafting and honey harvesting. Story telling will also be key as a way to learn the Batwa people’s history and what makes them an interesting group people. Elders may share stories and legends passed down through generations, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of their worldview, beliefs, and customs. After the tour you will head back to your lodging in the evening, have dinner and relax the evening away and retire at will.
Day 3: Transfer to Kampala
You will wake up to a beautiful breakfast, and then check out of the lodge and prepare for your departure for Kampala and this will take about 9hours. You will have one stop over in Mbarara for lunch and another at the equator picture taking moments and exploring the craft village after which you will continue to Kampala and arrive in the evening, you will check into a lodging for the night and have dinner then rest.
Day 4: Transfer to Kenya
After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodging, and head to Entebbe Airport for your flight to Nairobi, Kenya which will take about an hour. Once you land and are done with immigration, you will be picked from the airport, have lunch in Nairobi first then set off for Ol Pejeta. This will be a drive of about 4-5hours, you will get to Ol Pejeta in the evening, check into your lodging and have dinner then retire for the night.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking and game drive
Arise in the morning, greet your intestines with a scrumptious breakfast then be transferred to the park headquarters to be briefed about chimpanzee tracking in Sweetwaters chimpanzee sanctuary, this is the only place where to track chimpanzees in Kenya, after briefing about the chimpanzee trekking, you will head to the forests with a ranger guide who will help you to locate the primates. You will find them in their natural environment, they will start playing, swinging from one tree brunch to another as they entertain you, and here you will be ready with your camera to capture every moment. Thereafter, you will go for a hot lunch, and in the late afternoon you will go for a game drive. Expert guides will accompany you on game drives, sharing their knowledge about the wildlife, ecology, and conservation efforts within Ol Pejeta Conservancy and also track animal movements and use their expertise to maximize wildlife sightings during your safari experience. Expect to see Lions, buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, zebras, antelopes, hyenas, civets, genets and many more. You will also get a chance to watch the sunset something that will make for an unforgettable safari experience, filled with wildlife encounters, stunning scenery, and the magic of the African bush as the day transitions into night. When done you will return to your lodging, freshen up, have dinner and retire at will as you enjoy the night skies of Kenya.
Day 6: Checkout and departure
You will wake up, check out and then enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Once done you will exit the Ol Pejeta conservancy for Nairobi which will take 4-5hours. You will enjoy a morning game drive as you exit, the beautiful landscapes as you proceed to Nairobi with a stopover for lunch in Thika and souvenir shopping. Once you get to Nairobi airport, the trip will come to an end.
