Other primates to lookout for include black and white colobus, red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, olive baboons and many more. A visit to Queen Elizabeth National Park is inevitable for you to have the best wildlife viewing experience on your safari in Uganda. Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most visited Park renowned for its numerous mammal and bird species of up to 95 mammal species and 600 bird species. Wildlife drama during your safari will unfold in the dense forests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will get up-close with mountain gorillas which is a once in a lifetime experience.

Day 1: Arrival and transfer to Kibale National Park

Upon your arrival at the airport, you will be received by your driver guide from Glory Summit tours and Travel and immediately set off for Kibale National Park located in the western parts of the country about 348 kilometers from Kampala. You will make a stopover for your lunch in Fort Portal also known as Uganda’s Tourism city due to its many tourist attractions, cultural heritage and beautiful scenery. Arrival will be in the afternoon to check-in at your lodge and proceed for a visit to the Park’s crater lakes such as Lake Nyabikere, Nkuruba and many others where you will enjoy their scenery, birdlife and many more. Get to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park

Today enjoy your breakfast very early in the morning and report to Kanyanchu visitors’ center for a briefing about the dos and don’ts of chimpanzee trekking. Ranger guides will lead you through the Park’s forests to encounter our closest cousins engage in their routine activities. Locating a troop of habituated chimpanzees may last for about 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on their movements and having located them an hour is allowed with them as you closely watch their social behaviors. Return to your lodge for lunch and later checkout to hit the road for your drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park arriving in the late afternoon to relax and unwind at your lodge as you wait to have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning game drive and evening boat cruise

Arise to a delicious breakfast and hit the Kasenyi plains for a game drive where you will be able to see several animal species for example herds of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, topis, leopards, lions, warthogs, jackals, hippopotamuses and many more. A variety of bird species will as well be spotted such as the western banded snake eagle, yellow-bellied wattle eye, red-chested sun bird, palm-nut vulture to mention but a few. Get back to your lodge for lunch before heading off for a boat cruise along the Kazinga water channel that links Lake George to Lake Edward. This water channel hosts several water birds as well as mammal species that will be seen such as buffaloes, elephants, antelopes and many others that come to quench their thirst during scorching hours of the day. This activity lasts for about 2 hours after which you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.  

Day 4: Transfer to Bwindi with an en-route game drive through the Ishasha sector

Today have a relaxed breakfast and checkout to be whisked to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha sector to have an experience of tree climbing lions that you will see resting high up between tree branches. Proceed to Bwindi and arrive at your lodge in the perfect time for your hot lunch after which you will have ample time to rest at the balcony of your lodge while sharing your safari moments waiting to encounter majestic mountain gorillas in their natural habitats the next morning. Dinner will be served in the evening and an overnight spent at the lodge.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking and a visit to the Batwa community

Wakeup to a hefty breakfast and have your packed lunch to be transferred to the Park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking dos and don’ts and what to expect. You will be categorized into groups of eight members maximum and assigned gorilla families that you will go trekking after. Ranger guides will lead you into the misty forests of Bwindi to encounter these gentle giants in their natural habitats go about their routine activities. It is a once in a life time experience spending an hour amidst a family of mountain gorillas after which you will get back to your lodge for rest and relaxation as you wait to head off for a Batwa cultural experience in the evening. You will have an insight about their local culture, lifestyle and how they survive out of their ancient home known as the Bwindi forests. You will enjoy their cultural performances prompting you to dance to their tunes after which you will return back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight.

Day 6: Departure

Today wakeup to a relaxed breakfast and meet your driver guide to be transferred back to Kampala while enjoying and capturing the beautiful scenery of Kisoro and Kabale. You will make a stopover in Mbarara city for your lunch after which you will proceed with your drive through Masaka arriving at the equator line in Kayabwe for your second stop. At the equator monument, you will take pictures with your feet in both the northern and southern hemispheres and make visits to craft shops around to purchase some souvenirs and Ugandan coffee to take with you home. Embark on your drive to Kampala arriving in the evening to either be dropped off at the hotel of your choice in Kampala or to the airport in Entebbe to catch-up with your flight back home. You may opt for extra days to have a tour through the country’s capital Kampala as well as visiting East Africa’s adrenaline capital known as Jinja city.
