The 10 Days Western Uganda Adventure brings you the highlights of Western Uganda; where the savannah meets the tropical rainforest. Expect to see the most interesting animals of the savannahs: lion, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, and leopard) and up to 15 primate species, including gorillas and chimpanzees The safari, brings you to famous national parks of Western Uganda: Kibale Forest National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, and Lake Mburo National Park.

Travel plan details

Day 1: Entebbe – Kampala

On your arrival (depending on flight and request) at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda you will be welcomed by our representative and transferred to Kampala for an overnight Bed and Breakfast BB Distance: 40km (1hour drive) Medium range accommodation: Cassia lodge /Africana (BB) High range accommodation: Serena Kampala/ Commonwealth Resort (BB)

Day 2: Kampala– Kibale Forest National Park

After your breakfast, depart in direction of Kibale National Park, have a stopover in Fort Portal, the capital town of Tooro kingdom which lies on the shadow of the Rwenzori Mountains, the biggest mountain range in Africa. Day 3: Kibale National Park

Today after your very early, depart for Chimpanzee Habituation Experience, this is a lifetime experience that allows accompanying Kibale’s researchers and habituation at chimpanzee during their daily activities, thereby getting used to human presence without changing their nature. During your tour, expect to come across the chimps de-nesting (in their nocturnal nests) between 05:30 to 6:30, before them throughout the day till they make new nests and the night around 19.00. Day 4: Fort Portal – Queen Elizabeth National Park

Transfer to the Queen Elizabeth National Park. On our way, we pass the equator. Drive to Katwe fishing village, visit the local mining and arrive at your lodge in the afternoon. Day 5: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Early morning game drives experience in the national park, with aim of seeing animals like elephants, buffaloes, spotted hyenas, waterbucks, Ugandan kobs, and if lucky lion and leopard. In the afternoon, take the most exciting 2 hours boat cruise on the Kazinga channel, one of the most popular sites in Uganda for its concentration of wildlife and birds. Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable

After breakfast, drive through the National Park to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for tree climbing lions. After lunch, game drive in search of the tree climbing lions afterward we drive to Bwindi Impenetrable. Today transfer will depend on the location of the gorilla permits and road conditions. Day 7: Bwindi National Park

Todays’  activity starts at 8 am and you will follow the ranger guides in a group of maximum 8 people as you search for the habituated family of mountain gorillas, which was allocated according to the permits. Bwindi forest in Uganda has a population of about 370 gorillas, which is half the world population according to 2007 gorilla population surveys. It is not predictable the time you will spend to encounter the gorillas. Day 8: Bwindi National Park -Lake Bunyonyi

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi; the deepest and most beautiful lake in Uganda. On the way, visit the Grace Child home for village and agro-tourism; later proceed to your hotel for relaxation Distance: 110 km (about 3hours) Medium range accommodation: Bunyonyi overland resort/ Nature’s Prime Island (FB) High range accommodation: Birds nest / Arcadia cottage (FB)

Day 9: Lake Bunyonyi – Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast, proceed to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest of Ugandan National Parks. As you enter, go for a game drive in search for animals like impalas, zebras, elands, and many other antelopes. Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park – Entebbe
