10 Days Uganda birding rhinos and primates safari is a magical safari that is taking you Uganda’s hidden treasures in their virgin environment. The safari is going to expose you to Uganda’s birdlife which is over 1090 birds, endangered rhinos and great primates that Uganda celebrates and these are mountain gorillas and chimpanzees. This is an amazing safari that combines wildlife and birds.
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
On this day, meet our driver guide who will take you through the itinerary and hen embark on the journey to Murchison Falls National Park. This is the largest National Park in Uganda and it’s this wildlife circuit where you will find big 5. You will have an en-route to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary to track rhinos, you are given an hour to enjoy sighting the rhinos, take pictures and videos as you enjoy seeing birds such as Abdim’s stork, African black-headed oriole, African broadbill, Abyssinian ground hornbill, African black crake among others, and thereafter, enjoy your lunch and proceed to Murchison falls national park, arriving in the evening, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
Arise in the morning, greet your intestines with a scrumptious breakfast, meet your ranger guide and the driver and head to the jungle, you will be welcomed by herds of elephants, buffaloes, lion prides, giraffes, buffaloes, the list is endless because the park over hundreds of species. Return to the lodge for lunch and in the evening you will go a boat cruise to the Nile delta. You expect to enjoy seeing shoebill stork, animals will be at the shore, enjoy sunset pictures and then retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Visit top of the falls and transfer to Kibale
Arise in the morning, enjoy your breakfast, meet your driver guide, check-out and visit top of the falls. You will have a chance to spot the strongest waterfall in the world, you will take pictures and videos while listening to thunderous sound of the waterfall coming from the high rocks, and you will then embark on the road to Kibale Forest National Park, you will have a stopover in Masindi for lunch and embark on your journey to Kibale Forest National Park arriving in the evening hours, connect to your lodge accommodation, have dinner and enjoy your night.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and birding in Bigodi wetland
Arise in the morning, greet your intestines with a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and be transferred to Kanyanchu for briefing about the chimpanzee trekking, you will be assigned a chimpanzee family to track, head to the jungle with a ranger guide who will help you to locate the chimpanzees. You will spend an hour with chimpanzees, return to the lodge, enjoy lunch, and then in the evening, you will visit Bigodi to spot birds. Bigodi wetland is gifted with over 250 birds which will flood your sight and your ears as well, thereafter, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
On this day, you will rise in the morning on a delicious breakfast, check-out and be transferred to Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda’s savannah national park that boasts for its endless plains and a vast wildlife that include; elephants, buffaloes, lions and uniquely tree climbing lions, kobs, bushbucks, waterbucks, birds among others. It will take you about 2hours drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park, arriving in the afternoon hours, check-in the lodge, have lunch and then in the evening you will an evening game drive to spot some animals, return to the lodge in the evening, have dinner and have an overnight.
Day 6: Game drive and birding on Kazinga Channel
Arise in the morning, greet your intestines with a delicious breakfast head to Kasenyi also known as the mating ground where you will meet buffaloes, elephants, kobs, bushbucks and waterbucks, lions will be in the close range as they try to ambush antelopes or buffaloes, you will spot different bird species such great blue turaco, gray-crowned crane, white faced whistling-dick, goliath herons, great egrets, little egrets, lesser flamingos among others, return to the lodge for lunch, and in the evening go for a launch cruise on Kazinga Channel, this is also another bird haven where you will meet most of the birds such as long-tailed cormorants, yellow-billed storks, African jacana, African spoonbill, white-winged terns, white-crested turaco, black-headed Gonolek, Eastern plantain eater, giant kingfisher, long-crested eagle, African Cukoo-Hwak, to mention but a few. You will spot animals on the shore as well such as buffaloes, elephants will be swimming, take pictures as sun sets, and sundowners always enjoy this moment. Retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Check-out and transfer to Bwindi
Arise in the morning, have a scrumptious breakfast, check-out and transfer to Bwindi via Ishasha sector in Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will spot tree climbing lions, buffaloes, kobs, birds among others. You will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, arriving in the afternoon, connect to the lodge, and have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 8: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour
You will wake up on a delicious breakfast, get your lunch packed, be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking etiquettes. This is where you will be given a gorilla family to track and also a game ranger who will help you to locate gorillas. Gorilla tracking experience will always take you between 1hour and 6hours depending on where the gorillas will have spent the overnight and there is always an hour given to you to spend with gorillas, you will later return to the park headquarters to be granted gorilla trekking certificate, proceed to the lodge, relax, refresh up and then in the evening visit Batwa people and enjoy the package they have for you.
Day 9: Check-out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
This another eventful day for you where you will wake up at your time of convenience, have breakfast, meet driver guide and be transferred to Lake Bunyonyi the deepest lake in Uganda, this lake is famous for having 29 Islands and each Island have its own history attached. You will enjoy swimming since the lake is bilharzia free, you will also engage in canoeing as you visit different Islands, engage in Zip-lining and end your day in style.
Day 10: Check-out and departure
This is the last leg of your safari, enjoy breakfast and transfer back to Kampala. After a mouthwatering breakfast, you will bid a farewell to Bunyonyi and head back to Kampala, with an en-route to Igongo cultural center and this is where Ankole culture is exhibited. There is a lot of history attached to Ankole culture especially on the Ankole kingdom, enjoy lunch in Mbarara embark on your journey, second stopover will be at the Equator, this is where the imaginary line that divides the earth into two hemispheres passes. You will also engage in Equator experience, take pictures as you stand in both hemispheres of the earth and thereafter, embark on your journey to Kampala and this will mark the end of your safari.
