3days of Gorilla Habituation
Overview

3days of Gorilla Habituation is a beautiful experience as one gets to enjoy the life of these magnificent primates in the comfort of their natural habitat intimately. One gets to see how the gorillas are groomed from being wild to the gentle giants that interact with humans and can be trekked as the popular activity it is. This takes place in the Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and the activity enables gorillas be familiar with humans in their natural habitat. The trip will start from Kampala to Mbarara to Bwindi and back to Kampala.

Day 1:  Drive from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

I believe you are excited and looking forward to getting the opportunity to encounter the majestic creatures in their natural habitat as you embark on this 3day trip. You will meet at an agreed point with our representative from Glory Summit Hotel Tours and once all of you are settled in, you will be briefed on how the trip will move. You shall set off for Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and the journey will be about 8-9hours. You will have a stopover at the Equator mark for picture moments, and another stop will be in Mbarara for lunch then we continue to Rushaga sector of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and will reach in the evening. In time for dinner and then you will check into the hotel and retire for the day so you can rest enough and be fresh for the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla habituation

You will wake up very early, have breakfast then head to the briefing spot at the park headquarters with packed lunch, water and snacks. You will be given the rules and regulations to follow then start the process. Habituation takes a period of about 2-3years and is only done in the Rushaga sector with scientists, rangers, armed guard and 4 tourists. Depending on the movement of the semi-habituated gorillas, this process will take 6-8hours inclusive of the 4hours you will spend with the family once found. You will learn about the gorilla behaviors, naming process, and what their daily routine might be like. During the habituation you might also see other primates like the blue monkeys, red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and grey-cheeked monkeys and animals like the elephants, bush backs and jackals. After all this excitement, you will return to the lodge and freshen up, have dinner and relax for the evening.

Day 3: Drive from Bwindi to Kampala

A beautiful breakfast will start the day, after which you will check out and start on your journey back to Kampala which will take 8-9hours. You will have a stopover in Mbarara for lunch and the equator for some more pictures and check out the crafting village in the area. Then continue to Kampala at an agreed spot and this will mark the end of the trip.
