This island is one of the 84 islands that make up Ssese islands all under one district known as Kalangala district. Enjoy the beauty of the island’s white sandy beaches, pristine waters and flawless rainforests as you get engaged in fascinating activities such as nature walks, boat cruises, swimming, visits to local fishing villages as well as you enjoy delicious local cuisines at the beach while the refreshing breezes blow all over the area. This is therefore the best moment to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of Uganda’s hidden gems.
Day 1: Pickup – transfer to Ssesse Island Bugala
This beautiful day starts with a pick from either Kampala or Entebbe and proceed to Nakiwogo landing site in Entebbe where the ferry docks. Make sure to arrive before it sets off at 2pm and taking to around 3hours to Lutoboka landing site on Bugala island. You will sail on Lake Victoria’s waters while you have spectacular views of beautiful sites such as forested areas around the lake viewed at a distance, dotted fishing sites along the lake shores and many more arriving in the evening at a bay in Lutoboka to be then driven to your reserved hotel to have dinner and an overnight.
Day 2: Nature walk – fishing village – evening boat cruise
Wakeup to a scrumptious breakfast in a restaurant or at the beach as you watch the sun rise. You will later meet your local guide who will avail you with walking sticks and make a 40 minutes to an hour’s hike to a lush rainforest in Lutoboka, a home to several primates, bird species and butterflies that the guide will help you locate while he shares information about the island. After the nature walk, you will make visits to fishing villages may to be engaged in fishing practices as you learn about the local fishing methods used to grab different types of fish. You will also interact with the locals as you get to learn about their culture, traditions, way of life and history. Return to the hotel to have lunch before you vacate for a boat cruise. At this juncture, you will have a boat cruise to other neighboring islands while others can opt for a Jet Ski ride between astounding waves on the lake. Retire back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Departure Entebbe/ Kampala
You will have an early morning breakfast and check-out to embark on your journey to Entebbe. Make sure you are at the ferry docking area by 7:30am since the ferry leaves Bugala at exactly 8:00am. You will sail back arriving at Nakiwogo at around 11am to be driven to your preferred destinations or proceed for a simple tour to Botanical gardens in Entebbe to sum up your 3 days Ssese weekend getaway.
