4 Days Lake Mburo and Bwindi Gorillas
Overview

4 day Lake Mburo and Bwindi gorillas trip gives you an opportunity to enjoy the unique endangered mountain gorillas through the popular gorilla trekking and the smallest savannah park in Uganda with numerous species of animals like zebras, buffaloes, hippos, warthogs, antelopes, crocodiles, hyenas, impalas, topis and birds like the fish eagles, king fishers, red-faced barbet, black-bellied bustard, black bee-eater, regal sunbird, handsome spurfowl and other primates like monkeys, pottos and baboons. The trip starts in Kampala to Lake Mburo to Bwindi and back to Kampala.

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Lake Mburo and afternoon boat cruise

You will be picked by our driver guide at a convenient spot as agreed upon and he will brief you on how the trip is supposed to move and also handle any questions you might have about the trip. At 7:30am you will set off for Lake Mburo National Park and this will take 3-4hours with a brief stop at the equator for some picture taking and continue to the park. You will arrive in time for lunch, after which you will check in and then get ready for an afternoon boat cruise at Lake Mburo where you will see animals like hippos, buffaloes, antelopes and crocodiles. After the boat cruise, you will return to your lodging for dinner and then rest for the night.

Day 2: Morning game drive and transfer to Bwindi

You will have breakfast and checkout of your lodging. On your way out of Lake Mburo National Park, you will have a morning game drive which will take about 3hours and will see animals like zebras, elands, antelopes, impalas, hyenas, buffaloes, topis and birds like fish eagles and the rare shoebill stork. After the game drive, you will exit Lake Mburo for Bwindi which takes about 6hours and arrive in the evening, in time to check in and dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tour

You will wake up early and have breakfast and head to the briefing spot by 7:30am where you shall be given the guidelines and safety precautions to be followed by a guide to ensure a smooth trek before you head into the forest to experience it. Depending on the targeted Gorilla families given to you to trek, the trekking will take between 30 minutes-6hours, it’s in this time that you shall get to see the mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, how they live, care for each other, care for their young, how and when they eat, all this will be done with a guide and armed ranger on route with you. During the trek you will be given water and a snack for when you need it. When done with the trekking, you will go back to your lodge and freshen up then have lunch. There after you will visit the Batwa people for a community tour. With the help of a local guide, you will be involved in different community activities like music, dance and drama, crafting and honey harvesting. Story telling will also be key as a way to learn the Batwa people’s history and what makes them an interesting group people. You will the return to the lodge, have dinner and end the day.

Day 4: Checkout and departure

A beautiful breakfast will start the day, after which you will check out and start on your journey back to Kampala. You will have a stopover at a hotel in Mbarara for lunch and the equator for some more pictures and check out the crafting village in the area. Then continue to Kampala at an agreed spot and this will mark the end of your 4 day trip.
