6 days Rwanda gorillas and Serengeti wildebeest migration safari takes you to Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for gorilla trekking and Serengeti National Park in Tanzania where you will have the opportunity to view the wildebeest migration which is one of the world’s largest and greatest animal migrations. The wildebeest migration will be experienced around Ndutu area where you will watch millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles as they cross from Masai Mara of Kenya while various predators wait to feast on them. With this safari you will as well have an insight into Rwandese culture and the 1994 genocide where Tutsis were murdered and killed by the Hutus as you make visits to Rwanda’s genocide memorial sites and museums during your Kigali city tour.
Day 1: Arrival – Kigali city tour and transfer to Volcanoes N/P
Glory summit tours and travel driver guide will pick you up from Kigali international airport or a hotel and brief you through your safari itinerary. You will proceed for a city tour around Africa’s cleanest city known as Kigali as you make visits to Gisozi genocide memorial, Nyamata church, Kandi house museum, Kings Palace museum and many more to learn about Rwanda’s culture and what transpired during Rwanda’s 1994 genocide. You will have lunch in the city and later proceed for your 2 and a half hours drive to Volcanoes National Park arriving to check at a lodge for your dinner and an overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trek – Gorilla Guardians village
Enjoy your delicious breakfast to be whisked to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking etiquettes and gorilla family allocation. You will embark on the exciting journey of gorilla trekking led by ranger guides that may last for about 1 to 6 hours as you try to locate the assigned gorilla family. Encountering these gentle giants in their natural habitat is so engrossing and fascinating as you are entitled to an hour with the gorillas before you return to your lodge for lunch. After lunch you will head to a cultural village around Volcanoes National Park to engage and interact with the locals as you learn deep about their culture, traditions and cultural values. Return back to the lodge for your dinner and an overnight.
Day 3: Kigali to Arusha airport – transfer to Serengeti National Park
Today morning have your breakfast and be driven back to Kigali international airport to catch your flight to Arusha airport in Tanzania. Upon arrival in Tanzania, you will be received by our professional driver guide who will as well brief you slightly about your safari expectations while in Tanzania. He will drive you to a restaurant in Arusha to have lunch and later proceed with your 4 hours’ drive to Serengeti National Park where you will check-in at your prearranged lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 4: Great Wildebeest migration viewing – evening game drive
Wakeup early and grab your breakfast after which you will be driven through the park’s trails as your eyes capture the early risers of the jungle to Ndutu area where millions of wildebeests can easily be viewed crossing from Masai Mara national reserve in Kenya. In this area you will be able to see other animals like zebras, gazelles as predators like crocodiles, lions and many more feast on them for their day’s meal. You will be driven back in the mid-afternoon back to your lodge to have lunch after which you will return to the Park’s plains more so in the central region known as the Seronera where you will spot animals like elephants, gazelles, cheetahs, zebras, lions, leopards, topis, hyenas and many more. Later retire off Seronera region back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 5: Morning game drive – transfer to Ngoro Ngoro crater
Have your morning breakfast and return to the park’s plains for wildlife viewing where you are guaranteed of encountering the big five namely the elephants, lions, buffaloes, rhinos and leopards as well as other animals for example giraffes, zebras, antelopes to mention but a few. While on your game drive, you will keep your eyes open for Serengeti’s special birdlife for example schalow’s turaco, helmet shrike, rufous-tailed weaver, red throated tit, schalow’s wheatear and many other bird species. Return to the lodge for lunch, checkout and embark on your 1 and a half hours’ drive to Ngoro Ngoro crater arriving to check-in at a lodge for your dinner and a night stay.
Day 6: Ngoro Ngoro crater tour Transfer to Arusha and departure
Your day starts with a scrumptious breakfast checkout with packed lunch and be driven to the famous Ngoro Ngoro conservation area a place you will appreciate where humans live peacefully with the wildlife. This is one more opportunity for another wildlife encounter where you will see animals like zebras, hartebeests, warthogs, wildebeests, jackals, reedbucks and Africa’s big five as well as a variety of bird species. Proceeding with your wildlife viewing in the crater, you will ascend and exit the conservation area and be driven to the hotel in Arusha of your choice for relaxation or to Arusha airport to catch your outbound flight.
