4 days in Murchison Falls National Park Safari will give you a chance to see the big five of Africa’s jungle and these are; lions, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes and leopards and other animals like hippos, crocodiles, waterbucks, bushbucks, giant forest hogs; primates like the chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons; birds like hornbills, shoebill storks, king fishers, stranger weavers, regal sunbirds, fly catchers, green pigeons, robin chats, warblers; the beautiful scenery, world’s most powerful falls, and the vegetation in the oldest national park. On route to Murchison and while in the park, the experience will be a great one as it’s the best way to explore the big 5 as earlier mentioned. The trip will start from Kampala through Luweero to Murchison and end in Kampala.
Day 1: Pick-up and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
At an agreed point you will be met by a driver guide from Glory Summit Tours who will brief you on how the next 4days will be handled, after which you will set off for Murchison Falls National Park at 8am for about 5hours through Luweero and your first stop will be at the Zziwa Rhino Sanctuary to trek some black and white Rhinos with a guide which takes about 2-3hours depending on their location. Then you will have lunch and exit the sanctuary and continue to Murchison Falls National Park where you spend the night. You will check into a lodge in time for dinner after which you will rest and reset for the next day.
Day 2: Morning game drive and Boat cruise
An early breakfast will be enjoyed, then you will be driven to the park by the guide to enjoy a game drive where you expect to see animals like leopards, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, hippos, kobs, bushbacks, oribis, grey duikers and many more and pictures will be taken for memories. After the game drive you will head back to your hotel for lunch and relaxation before the boat cruise. With lunch out of the way, you will head to out onto the Nile to enjoy the afternoon boat cruise to the bottom of the falls which takes about 2-3hours to see water animals like crocodiles, waterbucks, hippos, warthogs, and bird species like the rare shoebill stork, hornbills, fly catchers, herons and king fishers with a guide to answer any questions you might have. After the cruise you will hike to the top of the Falls, where you will experience the pressure of the falls, with a view to die for, a rainbow and perfect spot for pictures. When done you will head back to the hotel in time for dinner after which you will retire for the night.
Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking
You will have an early breakfast, after which you will head to the Budongo Forest head offices. Here you will be briefed on the rules and regulations of tracking before you can embark on your tracking. An experienced guide and armed guard will be availed to you, also you will have some water and snack packed for you. The trekking will take about the 4-5hours inclusive of the 1hour given for you to spend with the chimpanzees once located. You get to see them in their habitat, observe how they behave, feed, look out for each other and also take some pictures. Away from the chimpanzees you will see blue monkeys, red-tailed monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, birds black headed fly catcher, king fisher, lemon billed gromec, forest robin, African emerald cuckoo and butterflies. Once done you will head back to the lodge, freshen up, have lunch and relax for the day.
Day 4: Check-out and departure
You will checkout, then have breakfast before you set off for Kampala which is about 5hours. As you head to Kampala, you will enjoy the beautiful scenic views and also take pictures while at it. One stopover will be done in Luweero for lunch, then you will continue to Kampala at the agreed drop off point which will mark the end of your 4 day trip to Murchison.
