5 days Uganda double gorilla trekking safari takes you to Bwindi impenetrable National Park located far away in southwestern Uganda on the edge of the Albertine Rift. Bwindi impenetrable National Park is a typical tropical rainforest that harbors half of the world’s mountain gorilla population that are known to be endangered due to habitat loss, poaching and diseases. This safari offers the best gorilla experience since gives you the opportunity to encounter these gentle giants twice in their natural habitat as they go by their routine duties. Trekking this endangered primate specie will be done twice in two separate days from two different gorilla families that thrive in different sectors for you to have the best experience of gorilla behaviors from different gorilla groups.
Day 1: Arrival and transfer to a hotel in Kampala
Upon your arrival at the airport, a driver guide from Glory summit tours and travel will receive you and transfer you to your reserved hotel in Kampala for relaxation as you wait to have your long drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the next morning. You will check-in at the hotel, have your day’s meal and thereafter have a briefing about your 5 days Uganda double gorilla trekking safari chaired by your driver guide. You will relax at the hotel as you wait to have dinner and an overnight.
Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National Park
Today wakeup very early for your breakfast and set off for your journey to Bwindi impenetrable National Park far away in the southwestern parts of the country. Get ready for a long drive of about 9 hours though worth it and adventurous since you will have stopovers along the way for example at the Equator line in Kayabwe to have that equator line experience where the earth is divided into two equal parts. You will have the opportunity to take photos at the equator monument when stepping your feet in the two hemispheres as well as making visit to craft shops where you will be able to buy some souvenirs. You will have another stopover in Mbarara city for your lunch and proceed with your drive arriving in the evening to check-in at your pre-arranged lodge for dinner and an overnight as you wait to have your day’s trek in the next morning.
Day 3: Gorilla trek and guided nature walk
You will have an early morning breakfast and transfer to the Park headquarters to attend a briefing about dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking in misty forests of Bwindi. Ranger guides will lead you into the forests to embark on the search of the gentle giants which may last for 1 to 6 hours depending on their movement in search for food. Having located the assigned gorilla family, you will spend an hour amidst them as you closely follow after them as they feed and groom their infants. Return back to the lodge for lunch before you set off for a 3 hours’ guided nature walk along the Munyaga River trail. This trail will take you to the waterfalls with in the Park’s misty forests while you have your eyes on other primates and several bird species roam the forests. You will get back to the lodge for your dinner and an overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla trek and Batwa cultural experience
Wake up to a hefty breakfast and be driven back to the Park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking. You will be allocated a different gorilla family from a different gorilla sector so as you may have a different gorilla experience in the jungle. You will set off into the forests to locate the assigned gorilla group which may last for 1 to 6 hours. An hour is allowed with the gorillas as you spot the infants play and notice the gorilla behaviors that you could have missed out in the first trek. Return back to the lodge for lunch after which you will head off for the Batwa cultural experience in the Batwa communities where you will learn about their ancient lives for example how they lived in the forests in harmony with the gorillas, how they hunted, collected wild honey, started fire and many more. Songs and exotic dances will also be shared during your experience after which you will return back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight.
Day 5: Transfer to Kampala and departure
After your morning breakfast, you will set off for your long drive back to Kampala while witnessing the beautiful scenery of rolling and terraced hills arriving in Mbarara where you will make a stopover at Igongo Cultural center and country hotel for your lunch. After lunch you will visit the Igongo museum and cultural village where you will have an insight into the Ankole culture and other western kingdoms in the country. You will proceed with your drive arriving in the evening to be dropped off at a hotel of your choice in Kampala or at the airport in Entebbe to catch your flight.
