5 days Virunga gorillas and Nyungwe chimpanzees is an amazing safari that will expose you to two primate destinations in Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Virunga National Park located in Democratic Republic of Congo is famous for mountain gorillas and this park is part of the Virunga Mountains that cut from Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo. On this safari you will have a great chance to see a difference between chimpanzees and mountain gorillas. This trip will start from Kigali and end in Kigali.
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Virunga National Park
On this first day, you will be met by our driver guide who will pick you at Kigali International Airport, he will brief you about your 5 days Virunga gorillas and Nyungwe chimpanzee trekking, and thereafter you will embark on your journey. You will be overshadowed by the beauty of Rwanda as you enjoy the rolling hills of the countryside, you will enjoy the scenery of Lake Kivu, community settlement as you head out to Congo. You will have lunch en-route, and then proceed to Goma border where you will have to be checked, be granted a tourist visa thereafter proceed to Congo for your lodging accommodation.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali
On this day, you will wake up in the early morning and head to the park headquarters where you will be briefed about gorilla trekking etiquettes, you will later head to the jungle with the ranger guide who will help you to locate gorillas. After you met these fascinating primates, you will take multiple pictures and videos, see how they feed, how they play with their young ones among other fun in the jungle. The jungle will be full of birds that will be singing for you, you will spend an hour in the presence of gorillas then return to the lodge for your hot lunch and refreshments, after that check-out of the lodge and be transferred back to Kigali as you wait for yet another fascinating experience in Nyungwe where you will be tracking chimpanzees. You will arrive in Kigali in the late evening, check-in the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
Arise in the morning, enjoy a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide and head to Nyungwe National Park which Rwanda boasts for harboring hundreds of chimpanzees. As you head to Nyungwe on your day 3 of 5 days Virunga gorillas and Nyungwe chimpanzee safari, you will enjoy the best scenery that Rwanda gives. Arriving at your lodge will be in the afternoon, check-in, have a scrumptious lunch and then relax at the lodge, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
On this day, you will wake up in the early morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the park information center for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking. You will be assigned a chimpanzee family to track, then embark to the jungle with a ranger guide who will lead you to the chimpanzee family and after you have met these primates, you spend an hour with them, taking pictures and videos, recording every moment in the jungle. After this tremendous experience, you will go for yet another breathtaking experience which is a canopy walk in Nyungwe National Park and this will be after lunch. In the evening, you will have to engage in this magical experience and during this experience, expect to rub shoulders with birds, monkeys and baboons, aerial view of the park, enjoy fresh breath from the forests. In the late evening, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Check-out and departure
Arise in the morning at your time of convenience, have a delicious breakfast, check out of the lodge and be transferred to Kigali for your flight to other destinations or back home. If time allows after lunch in Kigali, you will do a city tour where you will visit Genocide memorial center, different local markets where you can buy souvenirs. If time does not allow, the driver guide will drop you at the airport and this will mark the end of your safari.
