Overview

In these 7 days, you will visit 3 national parks which are the most visited in Uganda. You will enjoy chimpanzee trekking in Kibale Forest National Park mostly known as the “Primate Capital”, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is Uganda’s savanna national park and most visited national park in Uganda, you will visit Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park which is home to mountain gorillas and you will have a chance to track them in their natural habitat. Gorilla tracking takes about 30 minutes to 4 hours and this depends on where primates will have moved looking for food and this same applies to chimpanzees. On this safari, expect a complementary city tour on the day of arrival.

Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Kibale

Arise in the morning for a scrumptious breakfast, meet your driver guide who will brief you about your Uganda safari holiday, and thereafter, check out of your hotel and hit the road to Kibale Forest National Park. You will drive to the western side of the country, you will have a stopover in Fort Portal for lunch, and Fort Portal is Uganda’s tourism and cleanest city in Uganda. It is ever-green, beautiful, and hilly, which will give you the best scenic view, you will take pictures, and then later embark on the road to Kibale Forest National Park. You will arrive at your lodge in the evening, check-in, have dinner, and overnight.

Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi Wetland

On this early morning, you will wake up on a delicious breakfast, grab your trekking gear, and meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the Kanyanchu briefing center, you will be assigned a ranger guide who will lead you to the chimpanzee community which you will visit, you spend an hour with these interesting primates, you will take pictures capturing every moment in the jungle, you will return to the lodge with memories, enjoy a hot lunch and in the evening you visit Bigodi wetland which is a supplement to your chimpanzee trekking experience in Kibale. This wetland is home to different biodiversity, expect to see birds including a shoebill, monkeys, and sitatungas, among others. You will retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth and boat cruise

You will wake up on a lazy breakfast, check out of the lodge, and transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is a 2-hour drive from Kibale Forest National Park. You will arrive in the afternoon, check-in at the lodge, have lunch, and later in the afternoon, you will do a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel which connects the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda. This is a swimming pool for elephants, buffaloes, hippos, crocodiles, and birds, these will give you goosebumps as you see these big boys sharing a pool. You will enjoy sunset pictures and later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi

On your 4th day of the 7-day Uganda safari holiday, you will wake up in the early morning, grab yourself a packed breakfast, and head to the jungle to catch the animals when they are still very active. Expect to encounter kobs, herds of buffaloes, bushbucks, and tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector. You will later enjoy your picnic breakfast and exit the park as you slop to the thick lush forests of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Arriving in Bwindi will be in the afternoon for lunch, check-in, have lunch, and relax at the lodge as you rewind about the memories created previously.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking

Arise in the morning, greet your intestines with a delicious breakfast, get your gorilla trekking gear, and meet your driver guide who will transfer you to the park headquarters for a briefing about the gorilla trekking. This is about the dos and don’ts while tracking gorillas. You will later be assigned a gorilla family to track, then head to the thick forests to encounter the gentle giants, you will spend an hour with them, take pictures and videos, and return to the park headquarters to get a tracking certificate and proceed for a relaxed lunch at the lodge. You will spend this evening as you regain the lost energy and refresh the memories.

Day 6: Batwa community visit and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

This is another eventful day for you, where you will wake up on a delicious breakfast, and meet a local guide from the lodge who will take you to the Batwa community. You will be happy to meet this tribe and enjoy their dances and songs, they will tell you ancient stories, and later return to the lodge for a check-out and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi where you will spend a relaxed evening. Lake Bunyonyi is the best place for you to cool yourself after the hustle and bustle of the jungle. This evening is going to be up to you, whether you like canoeing, or swimming because this lake is bilharzia-free.

Day 7: Check-out and transfer to Kampala

On your last leg of the safari, you will wake up in the morning, enjoy a hefty breakfast, check out of the lodge, and head back to Kampala. A stopover for lunch will be in Mbarara and thereafter proceed to Kampala. In case you need another stopover at the Equator will be done in Kayabwe and this will depend on your time of flight. This will mark the end of your 7-day Uganda Safari Holiday.
